On Sunday, December 28, 2025, the Senior National Badminton Championship in Vijayawada got its singles champions. Surya Charishma Tamiri bagged the women’s singles title, while Rithvik Sanjeevi S got the men’s crown.
Meanwhile, the duo of Shikha Gautam and Ashwini Bhat K won the women’s doubles title, Hariharan Amsakarunan and R Ruban Kumar took the men’s doubles win, and finally ending with Sathwik Reddy K and Radhika Sharma who claimed the mixed doubles title.
In the women’s singles finals, 19-year-old Charishma played a composed battle against the young Tanvi Patri and defeated her in a 58-minute contest by sets of 17-21, 21-12, 21-14. Tanvi, who lost her chance to become the youngest senior national champion, had control in the opening round but eventually lost in the remaining two to local star Charishma. Also, this was Tanvi’s maiden appearance in a senior national final tournament.
Charishma’s road to final came against successful wins over top-seed players like Unnati Hooda in the quarter-finals, followed by world No. 45 Rakshita Sree in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Rakshita Sree defeated Junior World Championship silver medallist Tanvi Sharma in the quarter-finals.
On the other hand, Tanvi reached the final after defeating Maharashtra’s Shruti Mundada in the semi-finals. After losing the opening game by 18-21, Tanvi took control and made a strong comeback by winning the next two games with 21-12 and 21-15.
Meanwhile, the duo of Shikha Gautam and Ashwini Bhat K bagged the women’s doubles title after a straight-games victory over second seeds Priya Devi Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra, by 21-14, 21-18.
In the men’s doubles final, Hariharan Amsakarunan and R Ruban Kumar defeated Mithileish P Krishnan and Prejan by 21-17, 21-12. The mixed doubles title was won by second seeds Sathwik Reddy K and Radhika Sharma over top seeds Ashith Surya and Amrutha P by 21-9, 21-15.
In the men’s singles final, Rithvik, the 2024 Odisha Masters winner, defeated Bharat Raghav to win the title by sets 21-16, 22-20. Earlier in the semi-finals, Rithvik edged past top seed Kiran George in an intense battle lasting over an hour. He sealed a dramatic win by sets of 21-16, 17-21, 22-20.
