India continued its strong showing at the Asian Shooting Championship as Suruchi Singh and Samrat Rana claimed the silver medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, delivering a composed performance in a tightly contested final.

The Indian duo finished with a total of 479.6 points, settling for second place after being overtaken by Uzbekistan’s Nigina Saidkulova and Mukhammad Kamalov. The Uzbek pair surged ahead in the latter half of the final to clinch the gold with 481.3 points. Chinese Taipei’s Cheng Yen-Ching and Hsieh Hsiang-Chen completed the podium, winning bronze with 412.2 points.
Suruchi and Samrat made an impressive start, leading the field after the opening two series and applying early pressure on their closest rivals. However, momentum shifted midway through the contest as the Uzbek shooters found consistency from the third series onwards, gradually building a decisive lead. Despite India’s efforts to close the gap, Uzbekistan maintained control and sealed the title with a winning margin of 1.7 points.
Earlier, the Indian pair had topped the qualification round with a score of 583, finishing ahead of teams from Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Chinese Taipei to comfortably advance to the final. The event followed a revised four-team final format, replacing the earlier gold and bronze medal match system. Under the new structure, Vietnam was eliminated after 36 shots, while the bronze medal was decided after 42 shots. The remaining top two teams then competed head-to-head for gold.
India also enjoyed success in the junior women’s category. In the Women’s Junior 10m air pistol final, Rashmika Sahgal claimed the gold medal with a score of 237.9, while fellow Indian shooter Vanshika Chaudhary secured silver after finishing close behind with 236.7.
