India’s campaign at the BOXAM Elite International 2026 final day ended with great success, bagging nine gold medals, seven of which came from the women’s event in La Nucia, Alicante. The women’s finals included notable names like Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain and former Youth World Champion Arundhati Choudhary as the experienced. Meanwhile, the 54kg category saw an all-Indian clash between Poonam and Preeti.
The BOXAM Elite 2026 saw some action-packed performances of over 200 boxers coming from across 20 different nations and competing in an international event in the second month of the season. India was the most successful nation that finished their medal tally with 19, including nine golds, three silvers and seven bronzes.
In the finals event, Indian women boxers put in quite a thrilling performance in their respective matches. Opening with the 48kg and 51kg events, India’s Manju Rani and Nitu secured emphatic victory and clean swept their Spain opponents by 5-0. Manju defeated Marta Lopez, while Nitu won over Noelia Gutierrez.
The prolific run continued with Poonam in 54kg who defeated her Indian compatriot Preeti by 4-1. In the 60kg category, Priya over Tetiana Dovhal, while Arundhati Choudhury, when facing Anastasiia Taran in 70kg produced commanding victories by 5-0 against their Ukrainian opponents.
India’s gold medal run was followed by their Olympic medalist, Lovlina, securing an impressive win over England’s Mary-Kate Smith in the 75kg category. The final win came from Naina in 80kg who defeated Ukraine’s Raisa Piskun by 4-1.
In the other women’s finals events, Preeti Pawar added the sole silver medal won in the 54kg category. Meanwhile, the bronze medals came from Pranjal Yadav (65kg), Kajal (65kg), Sanamacha Chanu (75kg), and Mankirat Kaur (80+kg).
India earned two gold medals from the men’s finals. In the 60kg category, Sachin Siwach edged past Canada’s Keoma-Ali Al Ahmadieh by 3-2 and added the first gold in the men’s event. The second came from Akash in the 75kg event, who defeated Kazakhstan’s Aman Konsbekov also by a score of 3-2.
