Juli Kishan is a composed and reliable defender in Indian women’s football, known for her calm presence at the back and steady progression through the domestic and international ranks. From humble beginnings in Odisha’s grassroots football scene to becoming a regular in the Indian Women’s League (IWL) and a national team member, Juli’s journey reflects dedication, resilience, and continual growth at every stage of her career.

Born in Rourkela, Odisha, Juli discovered football relatively late compared to many of her peers, beginning the sport in 2016 with Young Association Club, Kuarmunda. It was here that she was spotted by former India player and coach Gitanjali Khuntia, who recognised her potential at the U-19 Odisha State camp. This early encouragement proved pivotal in launching her football pathway. Alongside her football ambitions, Juli earned a position as a constable with the Odisha State Police in June 2021, a role that honours both her sporting achievements and her service to the community.

Juli’s domestic career reflects a steady ascent through regional and national competitions. After starting with Rising Students and East Coast Railways, she continued to develop her skills with Odisha Police and Sports Odisha, gaining valuable match experience and contributing across defensive roles.

In recent seasons, she has been a key part of several successful teams in the Indian Women’s League:

Odisha – IWL Champion (2023-24): Integral member of the title-winning squad in the national league.

Nita Football Academy (Current Club) – Represents Nita FA in the IWL, contributing both defensively and offensively, including scoring opportunities.

She has since played in friendly matches against Nepal, Jordan, and Uzbekistan, building experience against diverse opponents and tactical systems.
