The nation will miss out on their top seed women’s doubles duo of Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly. Both are currently recovering from an ankle injury. Earlier in the 2014 and 2016 editions, India has won bronze medals.

Meanwhile, the Indian squad boasts young talents like world junior championship bronze medallist Tanvi Sharma, Thailand Open Super 300 winner Devika Sihag, three-time Super 100 titles and two International Challenge titles winner Unnati Hooda, and Isharani Baruah.

The women’s doubles pair of Priya Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra will play the second doubles in absence of Gopichand and Jolly, while Kavipriya Selvam and Simran Singhi will be in the first doubles.

The most anticipated and questionable performance is coming off against two-time Olympic Sindhu. She makes her return since her Badminton Asia Championship exit in Round of 16. She is struggling with consistency. Her last notable performance was the semifinals game of the Malaysia Open in January 2026.

The BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2026 is currently taking place in Horsens, Denmark, from 24 April to 3 May 2026. This biennial event features the world’s top men’s (Thomas Cup) and women’s (Uber Cup) national badminton teams.

For the Uber Cup, India’s women’s team is clubbed with European Team Championships runner-up Denmark, bronze medallist Ukraine, and 16-time champion China. Meanwhile, in the Thomas Cup India is grouped with China, Canada, and Australia. The group stage will conclude on April 29, with only top two teams from each group advancing for the knockout games.
