The warm-ups for the upcoming T20 Women’s World Cup 2026 are now reaching their final stages. India played their last warm-up match against England. The match was held on 10th June, 2026 at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.

India won the toss and elected to field first. England had a bit of a rocky start as they lost Danni Wyatt-Hodge early in the game, but Amy Jones (68) and the skipper, Nat Sciver-Brunt (57) played good knocks to stabilise the side. They needed a few more runs, and Dani Gibson provided those runs as she scored 30* (12), powering England to 171/6.
For India, Renuka Singh got the first breakthrough as she removed Wyatt-Hodge early in the powerplay. Shreyanka Patil got 2 wickets for 29 runs, at an economy rate of 7.25. N Sree Charni had the second-best figures, with 1 wicket for 24 runs, and at an economy rate of 8.00.
172 to chase, India didn’t have the strong start they would have liked. Linsey Smith dismissed Smriti Mandhana in the second over for just 1 run. Shafali Verma (13) fell quickly after that in the third over. Yastika Bhatia, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Bharti Fulmali managed starts, but failed to build on it, departing for 15,17, and 18 respectively.
Richa Ghosh was the only high-scorer for India with 68 runs. India couldn’t hold down partnerships which affected their chase.
Linsey Smith who got the first breakthrough by dismissing Mandhana, went on to take 2 more wickets, including Richa Ghosh in the final over with 6 required off 4 balls. She took 3 wickets in total for 42 runs, at an economy rate of 10.95.
Charlie Dean had the second-best figures with 2 wickets for 16 runs, at an economy rate of 5.33. Other than that, Tilly Corteen-Coleman, Dani Gibson, and Issy Wong contributed with the wickets too.
England won the match by 5 runs, a narrow miss from India’s side. The performances by Amy Jones, Nat Sciver-Brunt, and Linsey Smith put England on top.
Hosts England will kick off the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup when they face Sri Lanka on 12th of June. India will face Pakistan to start off their campaign on 14th of June, 2026.
