Jain University swimmer Bhavya Sachdeva performance at the Khelo India University Games Rajasthan 2025 held in Sawai Mansingh Stadium has been promising. She bagged a golden double in individual events and a gold in the women’s 4×100 relay race that took her overall tally of medals in the event to seven. On Thursday, she claimed her first individual gold medal after winning the women’s 800m freestyle category with a timing of 9:37.41s. Her prolific run continued later in the 200m freestyle event which she wins in a time of 2:13.55s.
Earlier this year, Bhavya became the first Indian women to win a medal in Asian Aquatic Championships. She along with other swimmers of Jain University dominated the event by winning eight of the 11 gold medals. Meanwhile, their overall gold medal tally went to 20.
Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) and Lovely Professional University (LPU) were in a tough fight for the second spot in the medals tally. LPU bagged four gold medals, three in archery and one in shooting taking their gold medals tally to 13. On the other side, GNDU won 14 gold medals including three in team events in fencing and one in shooting
The Khelo India University Games is being organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Sports Authority of India (SAI). This event is India’s largest university-level multi-sport event this time the fifth edition is being hosted by Rajasthan. The initiative aims to nurture the emerging young sporting talent by offering a national platform for them to compete and excel in their careers.
