Koneru Humpy started chess at  age 6 and won her first Indian  youth title in the under-8 girls category in 1995.

She secured World Youth Championship golds in the  under-10 girls event in 1997,  under-12 in 1998, and under-14  in 2000.

She became Asia's youngest  Woman International Master  in 1999 at age 12 and earned the Woman Grandmaster title in 2001.

She achieved the full Grandmaster title in 2002 at age 15, becoming India's first female GM.

She reached the semifinals of the Women's World Chess  Championship in both 2008  and 2010.

She won her first Women's World Rapid Championship in 2019 in Moscow.

She earned individual gold medals  at Chess Olympiads, including  an 8/9 score on board 3 in  Chennai 2022.

She claimed her second World  Rapid title in December 2024  with an impressive 8.5/11 score.

She triumphed in elite opens like Qatar Masters in 2019 and 2023,  plus Gibraltar in 2020.

She staged a strong comeback  after motherhood in 2018, holding  a top-5 FIDE women's ranking.
