India continued their dominant run at the 2025 SDAT Squash World Cup. On Thursday, December 11, 2025, India defeated Brazil in their second Pool B match by a score of 3-0 at Chennai’s Express Avenue Mall on December 11 (Thursday). With the victory, they have also qualified for the quarter-finals match against South Africa on Friday.

After a wonderful display by the Indian player on Day 1, the second day was nothing less than a promising one. National champion and world No. 45 Velavan Senthilkumar gave India a strong opening on Day 2 after defeating Pedro Mometto by 3-0 and sets of 7-5, 7-2, 7-2.
Meanwhile, teen sensation Anahat Singh continued the lead with an easy win by 3-0 and sets of 7-4, 7-0, 7-2 over Laura Silva. Anahat was India’s top-ranked and youngest squash player in the tournament, who is playing her maiden World Cup.
Joining Velavan and Anahat, Abhay Singh also ended his match in victory after defeating world no 86 Diego Gobbi by a score of 3-0 in sets of 7-3, 7-1, 7-1.
Following India’s win against Brazil, Anahat expressed her happiness at the consecutive victory in the World Cup as a debutant. She said, “I am happy. I knew it would be a good game (against Laura Silva). I have played her before as well. All three of us played well.”
She also added that the Indian squad is ready to take over the quarter-finals and hopes for a medal win other than bronze. In the 2023 edition, India settled for a bronze medal.
“We will take it match by match and we will try to win every game we play. We have quarters tomorrow, if we win we will be assured of a bronze. Coming into the event we hoped to get better than a bronze since we already got it last time,” she added.
In the SDAT Squash World Cup 2025, a total of teams are participating against each other in four Pools of three each. From each pool, the top two teams will then advance to the quarter-finals, and India is among them.
