India made a convincing start to their campaign at the SDAT World Cup 2025. On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, India won all four Pool B matches against debutant Switzerland at Chennai’s Express Avenue Mall. Joining India on the victory side were Japan and Hong Kong, who defeated Iran and Korea, respectively.

The Indian squad included a combination of both the young and experienced players that included 39-year-old Joshna Chinappa, 27-year-old Abhay Singh, and 27-year-old Velavan Senthilkumar from Chennai and Delhi’s teenage sensation and 17-year-old Anahat Singh. All four players were in dominant form against Switzerland.
In the first match, India’s Senthilkumar defeated Robin Gadola by 3-0 in sets of 7-6, 7-6, 7-5 with the game lasting for a total of 27 minutes. The next match saw Anahat take a clean sweep win of 3-0 over Céline Walser by sets of 7-1, 7-4, 7-2. The game lasted for only 13 minutes. Next came Abhay, who edged past Louai Hafez to win the match by 7-0, 7-5, 7-3 in 33 minutes. Meanwhile, in an 18-minute game, Chinappa took the win against Stella Kaufmann by 3-1 and in sets of 7-1, 5-7, 7-2, 7-0.

The SDAT World Cup 2025 will have twelve teams from five continents competing to win the title of the mixed team event. The tournament has been scheduled in Chennai, India, from 9th to 14th December 2025. The event will be held in Chennai’s Express Avenue Mall, with a few of them also scheduled at the Indian Squash Academy.
The 12 teams are divided into four pools of three, with only the top two teams from each pool moving ahead for the quarter-finals. Each team has four players, two men and two women, who will compete for the best of five to seven points.
