India’s table tennis duo of Manush Shah and Diya Chitale are into the 2025 WTT Finals. They are the only Indian pair to qualify in the mixed doubles event. They will compete as part of Group A alongside two Chinese pairs of Man Kuai/ Lin Shidong and Wang Chuqin / Sun Yingsha and a Hong Kong pair. This will also be India’s first qualification in the WTT Finals.

The tournament is also the final competition of the 2025 season for table tennis that will see the top eight pairs competing for the title, scheduled from December 10 to 14 in Hong Kong, China. The mixed doubles event at the WTT Finals 2025 will first feature teams competing in group stage matches that include two groups of four pairs. The group matches follow next with the semi-final game. There, the matches will be played in the best-of-five format.
Both Manush and Diya are reigning national table tennis champions. They are coming off some great performances, including two final appearances and a title victory at the WTT Contender Tunis in April. Their qualification in the WTT Finals comes following their strong performances this season. In the WTT Contender Tunis held in April, they defeated Japan’s duo of Miwa Harimoto and Sora Matsushima in the finals to win the title.
Their next run continued in the US Smash in July which they won against Japan’s Satsuki Odo and the Republic of Korea’s Oh Junsung. In the same month, they also competed at the WTT Contender Buenos Aires, where they edged past Japan’s Satsuki Odo and Hiroto Shinozuka. Meanwhile, in the WTT Star Contender Brazil held in August, Manush and Diya won the silver medal.
Following their qualification in the WTT Finals, Diya commented on how big the opportunity is and how she and Manush are enjoying the historic moment as table tennis players.
Diya said, “It’s a huge honour to compete in a Finals event, and an even bigger one to be the first Indians to do so. This moment isn’t just ours, it’s a sign of how much Indian table tennis has grown, and how bright its future looks. I’m proud to play even a small part in this story, and we’ll give everything to make it a memorable one.”
