Indian shuttlers are in brilliant form in the ongoing 2025 Odisha Masters held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Cuttack. On Thursday, December 11, 2025, five Indian players advanced into the quarter-finals of the tournament in the singles category. The names include Tanvi Sharma, Unnati Hooda and Anupama Upadhyaya in the women’s event, whereas Tharun Mannepalli and Kiran George are in the men’s section.

Hooda opened the singles event in dominant style over Thailand’s Tidapron Kleebyeesun. The Indian shuttler defeated her opponent by sets of 21-7, 21-14 in a 25-minute match and secured her spot in the quarter-finals. After her, emerging star Tanvi defeated her Indian compatriot Aditi Bhatt in a 33-minute battle by sets of 21-18, 22-20.
In addition to Tanvi and Hooda, Upadhyaya has also advanced in the quarter-finals after winning the third round after her opponent retired hurt. On the other hand, Tasnim Mir, after resulting in a major upset yesterday, performed well against Japan’s Nanami Someya. She will next face the seventh-seeded Tung Ciou-Tong of Chinese Taipei. He earlier defeated India’s Aakarshi Kashyap by sets of 11-21, 21-8, 21-18 in a 66-minute match.
Meanwhile, in the men’s singles event, India’s top-seeded Tharun defeated Govind Krishna by sets of 21-16, 12-21, 21-11 in a 48-minute battle, making his entry into the quarter-finals. He will next face Indonesia’s Muhamad Yusuf.
On the other side, India’s George took home the victory over Dendi Triansyah George by 21-12, 21-18. The quarter-finals will be an Indian battle when George will next face eighth seed Rithvik Sanjeevi. Meanwhile, Rounak Chouhan and S. Sankar Muthusamy have also qualified in the final eight.
Fourth-seeded Priyanshu Rajawat lost his game to Indonesia’s Richie Duta Richardo in sets of 21-12, 21-10.
Besides the singles event, India performed well in the doubles category too. World Junior Team Championship Indian medalists Bhargav Ram Arigela and Viswa Tej Gobburu defeated their opponent duo of Nithin H.V. and Venkata Harsha Veeramreddy in sets of 18-21, 24-22, 21-17 to enter the quarterfinals.
Other Indian doubles duos who have also advanced to the next stage include the fourth-seeded duo of Pruthvi Krishnamurthy and Sai Pratheek in the men’s category, while the other spots were secured by two women’s pairs of Kavipriya Selvam/Simran Singhi and Ashwini Bhat/Shikha Gautam.
Meanwhile, in the mixed doubles category, India’s fourth seeds Ashith Surya and Amrutha Pramuthesh have also proceeded to the quarterfinals after winning their match against the duo of Nitin Kumar and Ritika Thaker by sets of 17-21, 21-13, 21-19.
Also advancing in the quarter-finals are the Indian duo of Sathwik Reddy and Reshika Uthayasooryan after earning a confident win over Par Tien Ann and Juliana Zefanya Gabriela by 21-19, 21-12 in 28 minutes.
