The Sri Lanka Women’s team batting line-up once again suffered setbacks against India’s bowlers. After losing their opening batter, Vishmi Gunaratne, in the first over, captain Chamari Athapaththu managed to get added in 31 runs off 24 balls. The momentum was then continued by Hasini Perera (22 off 28), Harshitha Samarawickrama (33 off 32), and Kavisha Dilhari (14 off 18).

The lower-order batters could not produce many runs, failing, and they completed their 20-over innings at 128 for the loss of nine wickets. India Women’s bowlers Vaishnavi Sharma and N Sree Charani take two wickets each, while Sneh Rana and Kranti Gaud got one each in their respective overs.

With Vaishnavi and Charani completing their part, it was now for the Indian Women batters to put up an impressive run chase. After losing their opening batter, Smriti Mandhana, who scored 14 runs off 11 balls, power-striker Shafali, who went on to score an unbeaten 69 runs off 34 balls at a strike rate of 202.94. Her brilliant batting massively contributed to the team’s run chase. Other contributions came from Jemimah Rodrigues (26 off 15) and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (10 off 12).

India Women completed their run chase of 129 in 11.5 overs through a valuable contribution from ICC Player of the Month November 2025, Shafali, who has proved to be a big asset for the team in the Women’s ODI World Cup final. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s bowlers somehow managed to take three wickets with one each from Malki Madara, Kawya Kavindi, and Kavisha Dilhari.
