Junior National champs of table tennis, Hansini Mathan, Sanil Shetty and mixed doubles pair of Payas Jain and Syndrela Das have advanced to the second round of the WTT Feeder Series 2026. The matches were held at the SAMA Indoor Sports Complex in Vadodara.

On Friday, January 9, 16-year-old Hansini, the youngest junior national champion in India, was in brilliant form against World No. 78 and third seed Yoo Yerin of Korea Republic. Hasini claimed a confident win over Yerin by sets of 11-8, 11-3, 11-9. She will next compete against the Korea Republic’s Ryu Hanna, who won the opening round against India’s Tanishka Kalbhairav by 7-11, 11-7, 11-5, 9-11, 11-9.
In addition to her singles win, Hansini then paired up with her Indian compatriot Sampada Bhiwandkar to take the victory in women’s doubles in the first round. The pair of Hansini-Sampada defeated third seeds Anusha Kutumbale and Baisya by sets of 9-11, 15-13, 11-4, 6-11, 12-10.
Men’s event results
Meanwhile, in the men’s singles, Shetty made a comeback from a two-game deficit and secured a match point to defeat second seeds Harmeet Desai by sets of 6-11, 5-11, 14-12, 13-11, 11-7. He will next compete against Sougata Sarkar in the pre-quarterfinals.
Other notable players from the men’s singles, including first seed Manush Shah, third seed Snehit Suravajjula and sixth seed Ankur Bhattacharjee, have also advanced to the next round.
In the qualifier, Manush defeated Parth Magar by 11-7, 11-4, 11-4. In the opening game, Manush secured the lead by 5-2 and went on to close the gap at 7-6. Leading forward in the second game, Manush from 5-4 went on to claim six straight points, taking the round to his advantage. Meanwhile, the third game was a bit of trouble for Manush.
On the other hand, sixth seed Bhattacharjee defeated Abhinandh Pradhivadhi by sets of 11-6, 3-11, 11-8, 11-6. Bhattacharjee will next face Mudit Dani in the pre-quarterfinals, who defeated Ved Sheth by 11-7, 7-11, 11-6, 6-11, 11-6. In another match, Snehit beat wild card player Pratham Madlani by sets of 11-5, 11-7, 11-3. Snehit will next face Divyansh Srivastava, who defeated Balamurugan Rajasekaran by 11-6, 11-9, 11-4.
Priyanuj Bhattacharya secured victory over the eighth seed of Navid Shams of Iran, by 9-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-4. With the win, Priyanuj has advanced to the second round, where he will next face Yashansh Malik. On the other hand, the pair of Payas Jain and Syndrela Das beat Pal and Baisya by 4-11, 11-6, 11-8, 10-12, 11-6 in the first round of the mixed doubles.
