On Thursday, January 22, 2026, Gujarat Giants Women named their replacement player for the injured Titas Sadhu. Pacer Jintimani Kalita will join the team for the remainder season of the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL) after getting acquired for Rs. 10 Lakh. Sadhu has been ruled out of the tournament. She was signed by the Giants for Rs. 30 lakhs in the WPL 2026 Auction but hasn’t featured in a single match for the team this season.

The young pacer from Bengal has previously played for Delhi Capitals Women’s team. In seven matches played for the team, she picked up four wickets at an economy rate of 8.40. Sandhu underwent major injury issues in the 2025 season. That WPL season, Sadhu featured in only three matches for DC Women.

Sandhu has also represented India Women’s senior national team in eight ODIs and 12 T20Is so far. She was part of the team’s ODI series against Ireland held in January but missed the tri-series against Sri Lanka and South Africa held in April. She was also out for the England white-ball tour in July. She, however, made her return in August and was named in the India A squad across all three formats for the Australia tour.

Meanwhile, Kalita, a left-handed batter and a right-arm medium fast bowler, has earlier played for Mumbai Indians Women in the 2023 and 2025 editions. In the 13 WPL matches played for Mumbai Indians, Kalita scored six runs and took a single wicket in six innings at an economy rate of 8.28.

In the ongoing 2026 WPL season, Gujarat Giants Women’s team currently sit second on the points table with six points, including three wins and as many losses from the six matches played so far in the tournament. The team started their campaign strongly with two straight wins against UP Warriorz and Delhi Capitals. However, the team suffered three consecutive losses to Mumbai Indians once and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the last two matches.

The Giants won their clash against UP Warriorz on January 22 in Vadodara. In the previous match, the Giants added their first win of the tournament after defeating UP Warriorz by 10 runs. Led by captain Ashleigh Gardner, Gujarat Giants have made a strong comeback and keep themselves a contender for the playoffs.
