The 2026 Tour de France Femmes is the fifth edition of the event. The race is taking place from August 1 to August 9, 2026, as part of the 2026 UCI Women’s World Tour. The Amaury Sport Organisation organises the race, which also organises the men’s Tour de France.
It has a 9-stage route covering 1,175km from Lausanne, Switzerland, to Nice, France, over 9 days.
Lorena Wiebes, the Dutch cyclist who represents the SD Worx-Protime team, won the opening stage of the women’s Tour de France on Saturday.
Wiebes won the flat 137-kilometre (85-mile) ride, which started and finished in the city of Lausanne and took the competitors past two lakes locked in the Swiss Alps.
“I can’t believe it,” Wiebes said. “The SD Worx-Protime team worked super-hard. Demi attacked; I thought, ‘I need to follow’. It was a super-long sprint.”
Kim Le Court crossed the finish line second, while Demi Vollering came in third, who has won multiple races this year including the Giro d’Italia. French rider Pauline Ferrand-Prévôt, who won the race last year, came in eighth, while Vuelta winner Paula Blasi was 12th.
The 149km stage on Sunday will go from Aigle to Geneva before the route heads into France. It will feature a climb of Mont Ventoux in its toughest ascent on Friday before finishing in Nice on the French Riviera two days later.
