Sri Lanka’s women’s cricket team is set for an important overseas assignment in early 2026, with the Island nation confirming a six-match white-ball tour of the West Indies as part of its build-up to a packed international season.

The tour will feature three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) followed by three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), with all matches scheduled to be played at the Grenada National Stadium in Grenada. The ODI series will begin on February 20, before the focus shifts to the shorter format later in the tour.

The upcoming T20I leg holds particular significance, with both Sri Lanka and West Indies using the series as a key preparatory phase ahead of the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, set to be held in England later this year.

Sri Lanka will be eager to rediscover winning momentum in the T20I format, having not secured a series victory since lifting the 2024 Women’s Asia Cup. The team enters the series after a difficult recent run, including a 5-0 whitewash against India, and will view the West Indies tour as an opportunity to reset and rebuild confidence.

In the ODI format, Sri Lanka currently sit sixth in the ICC Women’s Rankings, while West Indies are placed ninth, narrowly missing qualification for the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup. The rankings are similarly competitive in T20Is, with West Indies occupying sixth place and Sri Lanka just behind at seventh.

The hosts, however, will take confidence from their recent home performances in T20 cricket, having won their last two bilateral series at home against Bangladesh and South Africa. Playing in familiar conditions, West Indies will aim to continue that strong run while fine-tuning combinations ahead of global competition.

With ranking points, momentum, and World Cup preparation all at stake, the six-match series promises to be a vital and closely contested chapter in both teams’ 2026 calendars.
