PV Sindhu’s second title of the season has translated into a significant rise in the BWF World Rankings, with the Indian moving up two places to World No. 6 after her Hylo Open 2026 victory in Germany. The result adds another marker to her late-season resurgence and strengthens her position among the leading women’s singles players.

Sindhu defeated Denmark’s Line Højmark Kjaersfeldt 21-12, 21-14 in the final on Sunday, November 1, to secure the women’s singles crown at the BWF World Tour Super 500 event in Saarbrücken. The Indian controlled the contest in straight games, finishing the match in 39 minutes.

The Hylo Open title was Sindhu’s second of the season, following her Japan Open triumph in July. It also came after a runner-up finish at the French Open, where she lost to South Korea’s An Se-young in the final. Sindhu’s back-to-back appearances in tournament finals underlined a strong run of form as the season approaches its conclusion.

The Super 500 victory earned Sindhu 9,200 ranking points, helping her climb two places to sixth in the latest rankings. She had moved into the top 10 the previous week, rising to eighth after her French Open campaign. The climb marks a return towards the upper reaches of the rankings for the two-time Olympic medallist, who was last inside the top five in October 2022.

Sindhu’s campaign in Germany featured several convincing performances. She defeated Germany’s Amalie Schulz in the quarterfinals before overcoming compatriot Anmol Kharb in the semifinals to reach the title match. Kharb, who was appearing in a Super 500 semifinal, pushed Sindhu in spells, but the experienced Indian closed out the match in straight games.

Among other Indian women’s singles players, Tanvi Sharma moved up one place to 21st, while Unnati Hooda dropped two places to 23rd. In men’s singles, Lakshya Sen also improved his ranking after winning the Hylo Open title, moving up one place to 13th.

Sindhu’s rise to World No. 6 is a reminder that a strong finish to the season can reshape a player’s ranking and momentum. The Hylo Open title, following her Japan Open win and French Open final appearance, gives the Indian a timely boost as she continues to pursue consistency against the world’s leading players.
