The Indian team has arrived in Perth for the upcoming AFC Women’s Asia Cup Australia 2026. The Blue Tigresses are the first to arrive in preparation for their first match scheduled against Vietnam on March 4. The ticket sales have started for the match, priced at $20 for Adults and $10 for kids.

The AFC Women’s Asia Cup is set to begin from March 1 to 21. Australia is the host of the tournament. The Indian women’s team has been placed in Group C alongside Japan, Vietnam, and Chinese Taipei. The team earned their qualification back on October 17, 2025, when Blue Tigresses defeated Uzbekistan in the Group G qualifiers match. The Indian women’s team’s last appearance in the tournament was in the 2005 edition, making direct entry as one of the 11 teams.
The Blue Tigresses will have their new coach Amelia Valverde from Costa Rica joining the squad for the Asia Cup in March. The 39-year-old Valverde had led Costa Rica in the FIFA World Cups and will help the team in preparation for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The Indian team is the lowest-ranked in their group at world No. 70.
Out of 12, only six teams, including four semi-finalists, will make it to the FIFA Women’s World Cup qualification, which will be played in Brazil next year. Meanwhile, from the losing four quarter-finalists, two will be selected from the play-ins, which will be played on March 19. However, the losers will have another chance to qualify through the inter-confederation play-offs.
