Virginia won its sixth consecutive NCAA title in women’s swimming and diving. They now have the longest streak in national championships under Division I women’s swimming.

Virginia scored an NCAA record in the 400 freestyle relay breaking their own record set at the ACC championships last year. Under head coach Todd DeSorbo, Virginia remained dominant in the swimming events as they won all the five relays, and several individual titles.

Stanford and Texas lasted until the end, whereas the Cardinal edged past over the Longhorns to secure the runners-up title. For Stanford, the key events came in the 200 IM and 100 freestyle in which they beat Texas by four points.

California continued to fight all week after getting exited from the relays and finished in No. 4. Meanwhile, the Golden Bears took down Tennessee by one point and a half. Elsewhere, the Lady Vols claimed their fifth by 5 1/2 points over Michigan.

Lucy Bell wins second NCAAs title in senior year

Cardinal senior Lucy Bell made a brilliant run winning the 200 IM by a timing of 1:52.09. Bell led the Cardinal to defeat Texas on the final day of the event. Coming in second was California freshman Teagan O’Dell followed by her teammate Mia West, in third. Meanwhile, Louisville sophomore Anastasia Gorbenko finished fourth, followed by Texas sophomore Campbell Chase in fifth spot.

Virginia had two swimmer representatives in the championship finals Aimee Canny and Leah Hayes with both finishing in sixth and seventh respectively. UCLA senior Rosie Murphy resulted in eighth position.
