Manchester City striker Khadija Shaw has achieved a new record after scoring the fastest hat-trick in Women’s Super League history. The record was scored on Saturday, March 21, after City defeated Tottenham Hotspur at the Joie Stadium in Manchester by a score of 5-2 victory. The Jamaican striker completed her record in 13 minutes.

Shaw’s first goal was scored in the eighth minute of the game after she scored from the corner to give City the lead in the match. She then went on to double the lead ten minutes later from another set piece. She made her hat-trick in the 13th minute which she scored from a sharp header. Her total goals for this season goes to 18.
Meanwhile, the fastest player to make a hat-trick record in WSL history was previously held by Kelly Smith, who scored in 16 minutes against Bristol Academy while playing for Arsenal in 2016.
Shaw’s Saturday performance has now extended her record to record for the most hat-tricks in WSL history. This record was her fourth made against Tottenham. City’s Vivianne Miedema is second behind her with five hat-tricks.
In her recent interview with Sky Sports, Shaw expressed her excitement on her record breaking performance against Tottenham.
“I just try my best. I enjoy playing with the girls, I have amazing players around me and I just try to do the best I can at the top end of the pitch and I think everything will work out for itself. Keep going, keep our heads down, keep focused. Don’t watch the noise in the market … we just need to keep going,” she said.
Shaw is currently in the final four months of her contract with the City. Any update on the news is yet to be out.
