India has qualified for the semi-finals of the ongoing 2025 Badminton World Junior Mixed Team Championships in Guwahati on Thursday. India defeated Korea by 44-45, 45-30, and 45-33.
The duo of Vennala Kalagotla and Reshika Uthayasooriyan defeated Korea’s Cheon Hye In and Moon In Seo in the women’s doubles quarterfinal match. In the men’s doubles event, the duo of Bhargav Ram Arigela and C Lalramsanga defeated Cho Hyeong Woo and Lee Hyeong Woo by 9-5.

C Lalramsanga and Vishakha Toppo defeated the duo of Lee Hyeong Woo and Cheon Hye in the mixed doubles.
India’s Rounak Chauhan won against Choi Ah Seung in the men’s singles event. In the women’s singles, Unnati Hooda defeated Kim Han Bi.
This is India’s first-ever confirmed medal win in the tournament, with a guaranteed bronze medal. India will next face Indonesia in Friday’s match and will aim to qualify for the finals.
The BWF World Junior Mixed Team Championship 2025 is a six-day event scheduled from October 6 to 11. Also known as the Suhandinata Cup, the tournament will then be followed by the individual BWF World Junior Championships scheduled from October 13 to 19 at the same venue.
Opening match against Nepal
India’s junior world No. 1 double pair of Bhargav Ram Arigela and Viswa Tej Gobburu defeated Nepal’s Kabir KC and Suprim Panta by 9-3.
Unnati Hooda and junior world No. 1 Tanvi Sharma participated in the girls’ singles event. Meanwhile, in the boy’s singles event were Suryansh Rawat and Rounak Chouhan representing India.
The Indian team ended with a 45-18, 45-17 win over Nepal in the Group H clash.
Second match against Sri Lanka
The second match against Sri Lanka was the second Group H clash for India. The hosts gave another brilliant run, claiming a 45-27, 45-21 win.
Starting off in the men’s singles event, Lalthazuala Hmar defeated Keneth Aruggoda by 9-2.
The dominance continued by the duo of Bhavya Chhabra and Mithileish P. Krishnan, who led India to an 18-6 lead after defeating Sanuda Ariyasinghe and Thisath Rupathunga in the boy’s doubles event.
India’s run continued with Rakshitha Sree’s win in the girl’s singles even against Ranithma Liyanage, which took them to 36-21.
In the mixed doubles, C. Lalramsanga and Taarini Suri secured a 9-6 win over Aruggoda and Liyanage, taking the score to 45-27.
Third match against UAE
On Wednesday, India entered their final Group H clash against UAE after defeating Nepal and South Africa. The hosts secured the victory with scores of 45-37 and 45-34, entering into the quarterfinals against Korea.
Tanvi Sharma gave the kickstart in the girl’s singles event, winning by 9-5 against India’s reigning junior national champion, Prakriti Bharath.
C Lalramsanga and Vishakha Toppo in the mixed doubles event added to the score after defeating Adithya Kiran and Sakshi Kurbkhelgi by 18-10.
