It’s been a decade since they won their last doubles Grand Slam, which happened to be at Wimbledon. Now with Serena back in the game, the siblings will look to reclaim the glory. Venus Williams is anticipating the “very special” opportunity to play with her younger sister again in the Wimbledon doubles.

The ladies doubles start on July 2nd, and perhaps the most anticipated pair will take the field and face the unseeded American duo of Camila Osorio and Solana Sierra in the first round.

“It’s very special indeed. We have had quite a history here and it’s nice to be back in 2026, so ready to go,” Venus told reporters on Saturday.

Venus, who’s 46 now, plays occasionally on the WTA Tour as she nears the end of her prestigious career, while Serena, 44, is taking baby steps in her unexpected return.

2022 seemed like the last time the duo had played, when Serena stated she was “evolving away” from tennis. However, her newfound desire to play in front of her two young daughters brought her back to the sport.

She began her comeback with the Queen’s Club Championship, where she partnered with Victoria Mboko, and; then played in the Berlin Open with Karolina Muchova. She’s also set to play the singles for the first time since her 2022 US Open farewell.

“I’m excited we’re playing together and I can’t wait until we hit the courts,” Venus said.

“As soon as she wanted to play doubles and we were playing doubles, that’s how it works.”

Serena received a wildcard for both the singles and doubles. However it turns out no one has won the ladies singles’ as a wildcard, perhaps a challenge Serena will take on? She has won the Wimbledon singles 7 times, so maybe.

Venus, on the other hand, has won the Wimbledon singles 5 times between 2000 and 2008.

Serena will face the Australian world number one. 53, Maya Joint in the first round as she will look for the first Grand Slam singles title since 2017 Australian Open, and a coveted 24th Grand Slam title overall.

When asked about Serena’s performance, Venus was defiant in her answer, “Can you walk over to the courts and watch her play? That’s probably your best bet. There is no doubt that she has nothing to prove, at all.”

It’ll be a treat for the tennis fans to watch the duo again as they maybe take a few accolades home.
