Syndrela Das and Divyanshi Bhowmick Clinch Silver at Asian Youth Table Tennis

The 30th edition of the ITTF-ATTU Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships recently concluded in Bangkok, Thailand, held from 28th June to 4th July, 2026. The event was held at Bangkokthonburi Hall, with athletes competing in the U-15 and U-19 categories across singles, doubles, and team events.

India added two more assured medals at the tournament with Syndrela Das and Divyanshi Bhowmick reaching the U-19 girls’ doubles finals and Syndrela also advancing to the singles semifinals.

The Indian duo produced a motivated comeback as they defeated China’s Yao Ruixuan and Jiang Yiyi 7-11, 11-7, 7-11, 11-8, 11-6 in the doubles semifinals. After trailing twice by a game, both of them held their nerve to secure a place in the final against Japan’s Aoba Takahashi and Misuzu Takeya.

In the U-19 girls’ singles, Syndrela continued her commendable performance by defeating Japan’s Yuna Ojio 11-5, 11-7, 5-11, 3-11, 8-11, 11-6, 11-3 in the quarterfinals. Das rallied from a 2-3 deficit to book a ticket for the semifinals and guarantee herself a bronze medal.

India added two more medals to the already existing bronze medals won earlier in the U-19 boys’ team and U-19 mixed doubles events. While the gold medal didn’t come, the players put on an amazing display of their skills and game.

Bronze: Syndrela Das (U19 Girls’ Singles)
