As per reports, a formal invitation has been sent by the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) requesting the team’s presence. The women’s senior cricket team is currently in Mumbai celebrating their victory on the home ground at the DY Patil Stadium on Sunday. However, they are expected to travel to New Delhi on Tuesday evening for the meeting with the Prime Minister.

Following the Women’s team victory, a post from the prime minister was uploaded on X congratulating the team on their victory in the 2025 World Cup Finals game.

The post read, “A spectacular win by the Indian team in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Finals. Their performance in the final was marked by great skill and confidence. The team showed exceptional teamwork and tenacity throughout the tournament. Congratulations to our players. This historic win will motivate future champions to take up sports.”

There hasn’t been any such source confirming any news of a victory celebration of the team. However, in honor and appreciation of their historic win, the BCCI has decided to award them a special cash prize worth Rs 51 crore. The reward will be distributed among the players, support staff, and the national selection committee. The breakup is unclear, but it is expected that Rs 2.5 to Rs 3 crore will be given to the players and head coach, and the assistant coaches and the support staff team would be provided around Rs 25 to Rs 30 lakh.

The cash reward by the BCCI is an addition to the prize money won by the team from the Women’s ODI World Cup victory and will be provided by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The prize money is worth Rs. 39.78 crore (USD 4.48 million), which is the highest-ever award to a sports team. This comes in light of the increase in women’s cricket revolution and growth and development among the Indian audience.

This prize pool is a 297 percent increase from the 2022 edition, as the total prize of the tournament comes around ₹123 crore (USD 13.88 million).
