FC Bayern München is a German professional women’s football club based in Munich, Germany. The club was originally founded in 1970 and was a founding member of the Frauen-Bundesliga in 1990. Bayern’s women’s team has played for the club since 1967; however, because of the DFB’s ban on women’s football from 1955 to 1970, Bayern could only officially register the team in 1970.

The club won its first national championship in 1976. In 1990, after the first year of the Frauen-Bundesliga, they were relegated the next season. Bayern returned to the Bundesliga in 2000. In 2009, they were runners-up in the Bundesliga, trailing champion Turbine Potsdam by a single goal. In 2011-12, Bayern dethroned the DFB-POKAL Frauen title holders 1. FFC Frankfurt with a 2-0 win in the final and celebrated the biggest success of the club’s history since winning the championship in 1976.
In 2015, the club won the Frauen-Bundesliga for the first time without conceding a single defeat, and went on to win the 2015-16 Bundesliga for the second time. In May 2023, Bayern Munich celebrated a double win as both the women’s and men’s teams won the top national football leagues within 2 days. The club plays their home games at FC Bayern Campus.
