After securing her place in the quarterfinals on November 27, India’s Tanvi Sharma shines again after qualifying in the semi-finals match of the Syed Modi International Super 300 held in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. On Friday, November 28, 2025, Tanvi defeated Hong Kong’s Sin Yan Happy Lo in straight games by 21-13, 21-19.

Earlier, Tanvi defeated former world champion Nozomi Okuhara in a thrilling contest, winning by sets of 13‑21, 21‑16, and 21‑19 to reach the quarter-finals. She will next face Japan’s Hina Akechi in the semi-finals match scheduled on Saturday, November 29, 2025.
Besides Tanvi, India’s Unnati Hooda has also made it to the semi-finals after winning her match against Rakshitha Ramraj in three sets of 21-15, 13-21, and 21-16.
On the other hand, India’s mixed doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Hariharan Amsakarunan have also made it to the semi-finals match. They defeated Australia’s duo of Andika Ramadiansyah and Nozomi Shimizu by sets of 21-18 and 21-14. Later, after the win, Tressa secured another victory after winning the women’s doubles category with Gayatri Gopichand. The female duo defeated a Turkish pair by sets of 21-15 and 21-16.
In addition to the Indian women’s players making prominence, the men’s mixed doubles pair of Nithin HV and Srinidhi Narayanan missed their chance in the semi-finals after losing to an Indonesian pair.
Lastly, in the men’s singles event, former world no. 1 Kidambi Srikanth and Mithun Manjunath have, however, made it to the semi-finals after winning their respective matches and will face each other on Saturday.
Tanvi Sharma, India’s young star
At just the age of 16, India’s young badminton prodigy Tanvi Sharma has already held the position of the BWF World Tour finalist and Junior World No. 1. She is currently a student of Class 11 who is balancing her studies and sports career altogether.
Earlier in June 2025, Tanvi reached the finals of the US Open World Tour 300 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, which was her debut in the BWF (Badminton World Federation) World Tour. She is now the fourth Indian women’s singles player to reach the finals of the BWF World Tour 300 event. Before her, only three women’s players, including Saina Nehwal, P.V. Sindhu, and Malvika Bansod, have made it.
She lost the finals game against former World No. 9 Beiwen Zhang by sets of 11–21, 21–16, and 10–21.
