After weeks of speculation over India Women’s cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palaash Muchhal’s wedding, both of them shared a statement on the matter via social media. On Sunday, Mandhana and Palaash released their respective comments on Instagram, providing fans with clarity on the final decision made by both families.
Mandhana on her Instagram story stated, “Over the past few weeks, there has been plenty of speculation around my life, and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person, and I would like to keep it that way, but I need to clarify that the wedding is called off.”
She also requested that the fans respect the privacy of both families during this time and close the discussion now.
Meanwhile, Palaash on his Instagram story wrote, “I have decided to move on in my life and step back from my personal relationship. It’s been very difficult for me to see people react so easily on baseless rumours about something which has been most sacred to me. It’s the most difficult phase of my life, and I will deal with it gracefully, holding on to my beliefs. I truly hope we, as a society, learn to pause before judging someone based on unverified gossip, whose sources are never identified.”
After announcing the cancellation of the wedding, Palaash decided to act accordingly and removed the proposal video and World Cup celebration that featured Mandhana. Some pictures still remain on his Instagram account.
Both of them, however, have decided to move on in their respective lives. Mandhana will focus on her professional cricket career with the international tournaments and the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 upcoming.
Mandhana and Palaash’s wedding
Initially, the wedding of Mandhana and Palaash was supposed to be held on November 23, 2025. The pictures from the pre-wedding festivities were widely circulated on social media, where both the families and friends were seen enjoying. However, on the morning of the wedding ceremony, Mandhana’s father got hospitalised due to a medical emergency, followed by the groom’s health concerns due to stress.
Keeping both of their health in consideration, it initially looked like the wedding was postponed and a new date will be decided. Amid that, rumours of Palaash’s alleged cheating on Mandhana during the pre-wedding festivities started to circulate on social media. Weeks later, both of them put out their statements on social media.
