India Women Beat Ukraine 4-1 in Uber Cup 2026 Group A, Face China Next

On Sunday, April 26, India’s young Indian women’s team registered their first win of the Thomas & Uber Cup 2026. They defeated European Championships bronze medallist Ukraine in their second Group A clash in Horsens, Denmark. India won by a score of 4-1. Former world champion PV Sindhu was given a rest in the women’s singles event. Replacing her 2026 Thailand Masters champion Devika Sihag was given the chance.

Unnati Hooda began India’s campaign with a 21-19, 22-20 win over Polina Buhrova. Following her Junior World Championships silver medallist Tanvi Sharma doubled India’s lead after defeating Yevheniia Kantemyr in sets of 21-12, 17-21, 21-10.

Devika Sihag led India’s run after beating Mariia Stoliarenko by sets of 23-21, 21-13. India’s only loss of the day came in the first game of the women’s doubles. The pair of Kavipriya Selvam and Simran Singhi lost against Buhrova and Kantemyr by 11-21, 17-21. Sindhu and Tanisha Crasto completed the day by securing a win by sets of 21-18, 21-15 over Stoliarenko and Sofiia Lavrova.

Showcasing such dominance in the opening game, India’s women’s will next face defending champions China in their last group match. The game is scheduled on Monday, April 27, and India have the only chance to advance into the quarterfinals after defeating them.
