FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026: Groups, Schedule, Teams and Where to Watch

The Fédération Internationale de Basketball (FIBA) 2026 Women’s Basketball World Cup is going to be held in Germany, Berlin, from 4th of September to the 13th of September 2026. This will be the 20th edition of the tournament.

The women’s world cup tournament was first held in 1953 in Chile. This is Germany’s second time hosting the women’s world cup after the 1998 tournament.

During its Central Board meeting in Manila, Philippines, on 28 April 2023, FIBA announced that Germany will host the upcoming World Cup in 2026

FIBA expanded the World Cup back to 16 teams, following a review of the current women’s basketball system on 25th March, 2022. In the 2022 World Cup, only 12 teams were allowed.

Qualified Teams:

16 teams from 4 confederations have qualified for this edition of the women’s basketball world cup.

Germany – This is the host’s second time participating in the tournament. Their only appearance came in 1998 when they hosted it for the first time.

The tournament will be played in Berlin across two venues. The main venue is the Berlin Arena, which will host two groups and the entire knockout stage.

The second arena is the Max-Schmeling-Halle, which will host two groups in the first round.

Seedings: The seedings are based on the FIBA Women’s World Ranking as of April 1, 2026, and they were revealed on 16th April, 2026.
