On December 9, 2025, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the 15-member squad of India Women for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, which is scheduled to begin on December 21. The first two matches scheduled on December 21 and 23 will be held in Visakhapatnam, while the remaining three will be held at Thiruvananthapuram on the dates 26, 28, and 30.

Harmanpreet Kaur, who led India to their triumphant victory in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, will lead the T20I year. Joining her in the vice-captain role will be Smriti Mandhana. Also joining the series from the World Cup squad are Deepti Sharma and Shafali Verma. In that tournament, Deepti was the Player of the Tournament while Shafali was adjudged the Player of the Match in the finals.

Meanwhile, bowler Renuka Singh makes her return to the team after being absent from the last T20I series against England due to an injury. On the other hand, wicketkeeper G Kamalini and spinner Vaishnavi Sharma, who were not part of the World Cup squad, have received their maiden call to the senior India team to join the series against Sri Lanka.

The 19-year-old Vaishnavi Sharma, left-arm spinner, was the highest wicket-taker during India’s campaign in the U-19 cricket World Cup. She picked up 17 wickets for the team. Meanwhile, she represented Madhya Pradesh in Senior Women’s T20 where she took 21 wickets in 11 games, whereas, in the Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal T20s she picked up 12 in five innings for Central Zone.

Players like Radha Yadav, Yastika Bhatia (injury), Uma Chetry and Sayali Satghare, who played in the England T20I series, have been left out this time. Radha, a left-arm spinner, claimed four wickets in three games for India Women at the ODI World Cup.

In the T20Is against England, she was added in replacement for Shuchi Upadhyay and took six wickets in five games. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper Yastika has not played any match since August and was also ruled out of the World Cup due to a knee injury.
