The couple chose to marry during the Australian summer, hosting an intimate yet star-studded ceremony at the picturesque Villa Dionysus estate in the Swan Valley, not far from Kerr’s hometown of Perth. The setting reflected both celebration and homecoming for the Matildas captain.

Kerr and Mewis first confirmed their relationship publicly in 2021, quickly becoming one of the sport’s most admired couples. Their engagement followed in November 2023, marking another milestone in a journey that has unfolded alongside their professional careers at the highest level of the game.

Adding a deeply personal touch to the occasion was the presence of their son, Jagger. Born in May, the seven-month-old was part of the ceremony, symbolising the family the couple has already begun building together.

The wedding brought together a strong contingent from the footballing world, with several of Kerr’s Australia teammates in attendance. Kerr, Australia’s all-time leading goal-scorer, recently made her return to competitive action with Chelsea after recovering from a serious ACL injury, reaffirming her status as one of the game’s elite forwards.

Mewis, meanwhile, has been away from the pitch since departing West Ham United in July. Her time with the club was disrupted by injuries and maternity leave, limiting her to four appearances across an 18-month spell. Despite that, her international resume remains significant. The American midfielder has earned 52 caps for the United States, netting seven goals, and last featured for the USWNT at the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
