East Bengal FC Thrash Kickstart 5-0 to Stay Top of Indian Women’s League

On Tuesday, January 6, 2026, East Bengal FC registered a dominating victory after defeating Kickstart FC at the Kalyani Stadium by a score of 5-0. The team added a brilliant win in the Indian Women’s League 2025-26. They now sit at the top of the table, ranking with all five wins. Besides, this was Bengal FC head coach Anthony Andrews’ 50th match in the league.

Ugandan striker Fazila Ikwaput scored two goals each for Bengal FC, while Resty Nanziri, Sulanjana Raul, and Astam Oraon added one each. No goal scorers came from Kickstart FC. The Moshal girls held possession of the game early and dominated throughout the match. Meanwhile, Kickstart struggled to maintain the pace with Bengal FC players, which resulted in them entering the relegation zone.

Defending champions East Bengal FC women’s team have recently created history after claiming their maiden title of the SAFF Women’s Club Championship 2025 held in Kathmandu, Nepal. On the other hand, Sesa Football Academy got its first win in IWL after defeating Gokulam Kerala FC in a goalless draw. In the opening minutes, Gokulam struck twice, but Sesa responded late. After the match, Gokulam takes sixth place in the table, while Sesa remains at the bottom of the table.

On the other hand, Sethu FC defeated Nita Football Academy by 2-1, including a decisive second-half brace from Lynda Kom Serto. For Nita FA, the early lead came from Pyari Xaxa, while Sethu continued the momentum after the break. Maintaining their dominance, Sethu added their third straight win and have now moved up to the second position in the table standings.

Another major win of the day came from Sribhumi FC, who held their dominance in the second-half of the game, which was enough to beat Garhwal United FC by a score of 3-0. One goal was scored by the Sribhumi players, including Thoibisana, Anju Chanu, and Anju Tamang.

The day saw some great competitive spirit showcased by the six teams in all four matches played. At the end of the day, East Bengal FC, Sesa Football Academy, Sethu FC, and Sribhumi FC were the teams benefiting from victories in another day of the India Women’s League 2025-26.
