India’s U-20 women’s football team are set to play four friendly matches against Swedish clubs scheduled from February 19 to 28, 2026. The match serves as part of their preparation camp for the AFC Women’s U-20 Asia Cup in Thailand, for which they have been training at the Bosön National Sports Centre in Lidingö. The Young Tigresses arrived in Sweden on February 5 and will be heading against senior Swedish teams like Hammarby IF, Täby FK, Enskede IK Dam, and Karlbergs BK.

Sweden is regarded as one of the best national women’s football teams, and the friendly matches will help the Indian team showcase its skills against a top contender for the Asia Cup. The Young Tigresses have been placed in Group C of the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Thailand 2026 and will begin their campaign on April 2 against Japan, followed by Australia on April 5, and later against Chinese Taipei on April 8.
The 12th edition of the AFC U-20 Women’s Asia Cup is set to be held from April 1 to 16. This is, however, the first appearance since 2006. The tournament features twelve teams divided into three groups of four each. India secured their qualification from the qualifiers match held back in August 2025 as among the eight group winners and among the three best-ranked runners-up team. They finished in top position in Group D, defeating Indonesia, Myanmar and Turkmenistan in the qualifiers.
Only the top two teams from each group and the two best teams finishing in third place will progress into the quarter-finals. From there, only four semi-finalists will qualify for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Poland 2026.
