Aveka Singh is one of the emerging Indian footballers building her career on the international stage. Known for her technical ability, vision, and composure in midfield, the Delhi-born player represents a new generation of Indian footballers gaining experience in different footballing environments across the world. Currently playing for Danish club Næstved HG, Singh has followed an unconventional pathway that includes youth football in India, college soccer in the United States, and professional experience in Europe.
She started playing the sport at the age of five and continued to develop her skills through school football competitions. Her early playing style was influenced by Brazilian superstar Neymar, whom she has often cited as her football idol. Initially playing as a winger, Singh admired Neymar’s creativity, flair, and attacking instincts, qualities that helped shape her own approach to the game during her formative years.
Her family played an important role in supporting her development. She began playing football alongside her uncle, Nitin Chainani, and later received mentorship from sports agent Bhawna Khanna as she pursued a professional pathway in football.
During her time in the United States, she also played club football in Europe during the American off-season, representing Fundació Terrassa in Spain. This exposure to Spanish football further developed her technical and tactical awareness.
In 2025, Singh signed for Danish club Næstved HG, which competes in the Danish Women’s 1st Division. The move marked an important step in her professional career, allowing her to compete in a structured European league environment and continue her development against stronger competition. At Næstved HG, Singh has contributed to the team’s midfield with her passing ability, ball control, and vision, gradually establishing herself as a valuable member of the squad.
Aveka Singh has represented India at youth level and gained recognition as part of the India U-15 women’s national team that won the SAFF U-15 Women’s Championship in 2018. She later became part of the India U-17 national team setup, earning multiple caps and scoring goals for the youth side. Her development during this period placed her among the promising prospects of Indian women’s football.
Although the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, in which she was expected to participate, was disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Singh continued to pursue opportunities abroad to strengthen her football career.
Her progress in international club football eventually brought her into consideration for the Indian senior national team, where she has been part of preparations for major competitions such as the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026.
