In a club statement, Sonnet stated, “I’m really excited to continue with Gotham FC. This is a special group that holds itself to a high standard every day. I’m looking forward to building on what we’ve started here.”

In 2026 so far, she has made eight regular season appearances, and has had five starts. Last year, she appeared in and started in all 26 regular-season matches. Sonnet surpassed 200 career appearances across all NWSL competitions and 15,000 regular-season minutes.

Emily is one of the most accomplished players in NWSL playoff history. She appeared in and started her fifth league championship last year, extending her all-time playoff marks to 17 games played, 17 starts and 1,679 minutes. She has reached the playoffs with four different clubs (Washington Spirit, Portland Thorns, Gotham, and OL Reign) and has won three of those NWSL titles.

She is now amongst the most-capped players for the senior team during the 2027 Women’s World Cup cycle. Emily has won the 2019 World Cup and an Olympic Gold in 2024.
