Manchester United Women Football Club is a professional club based in Leigh, Greater Manchester. They gained promotion to the WSL in 2019 and won their first major honour in the 23-24 season when they won the Women’s FA Cup. Manchester United Supporters Club Ladies began operations in the late 1970s and was unofficially recognised as the club’s senior women’s team.

It was in 2001 that the team formed an official partnership with Manchester United. Unfortunately, the team disbanded in 2005, shortly after Malcolm Glazer’s complete takeover, with the new regime deciding that the women’s team was not part of the “core business” and was unprofitable. In March 2018, Manchester United stated their intentions to reintroduce a women’s football team. This marked the club’s return to women’s football after 13 years.
