India’s women’s hockey team has kicked off their campaign in the Junior World Cup 2025 with a bang. On Monday, December 1, 2025, the team won their opening match against Namibia in a one-sided victory by a score of 13-0. This was India’s biggest victory in the tournament’s history. With the win, India has taken their spot at the top of the group rankings.

Players like Hina Bano and Kanika Siwach each scored a hat-trick. Besides Hina (35′, 35′, 45′) and Kanika (12′, 30′, 45′), Sakshi Rana (10′, 23′) scored twice. Meanwhile, players like Binima Dhan, Sonam, Sakshi Shukla, Ishika, and Manisha scored one goal each.
In the early minutes of the game, India easily secured four goals. The team was dominant throughout the match. Rana took the first goal with a reverse flick. Kanika scored the next goal to give India a 2-0 lead. Next came Binima, who added a third with a direct run, followed by Sonam taking the fourth one. After the end of the first quarter, India was 4-0.
In the second quarter, India picked up the pace with Rana striking again and securing her second goal and a fifth for the team. The opponent players from the Namibia team tried their best to push forward, but the Indian’s tried their best to stop them, especially by the midfielders.
The sixth one came from Sakshi’s penalty-corner dragflick. Before the half-time, India were at 7-0 after Kanika added her second goal. In the second half, the Indian team was in a controlled position. Hina scored her first goal after a hit on the top corner. She eventually got her second one after Namibia went loose and India added the advantage in their favor.
After adding the two, India got their tenth goal from Ishika, who scored after getting a rebound from the penalty corner. The same goal came from Hina and finished her hat-trick in the match. After Hina, Kanika also got her third from a penalty corner. At the end of the third quarter, India was leading at 12-0.
In the final quarter, the Indian team made some changes but kept their momentum the same. The last goal of the match came from Manisha, who scored one goal from a penalty corner, and India finished the game at 13-,0 winning their first in the tournament.
