SG Pipers clinched their hat-trick in the ongoing Women’s Hockey India League 2025-26. On Friday, January 2, 2026, Pipers defeated Soorma Hockey Club by a score of 3-1 held at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi. With this, Pipers are maintaining their lead as the No. 1 team in the table rankings.

In the first quarter, both teams were quick in their attacks, with the whole match going into an intense vibe. With 12 minutes into the game, Penny Squibb gained a penalty corner to get the lead in the match. However, SG Pipers immediately strikes back and goes aggressive in their attempt to secure multiple penalty corners and successfully ends up levelling the score at 1-1, all thanks to Lola Riera.
Entering the second quarter, SG Pipers were in control of Soorma and continued to dominate them. Their second goal came in the 18th minute of the quarter when Jyoti Singh took the attempt from inside the circle and scored it into the net. The goal gave Pipers the lead by 2-1. Meanwhile, Soorma responded with penalty corners, but Cristina Cosentino, SG Pipers’ goalkeeper, made two successful saves, keeping her team in the lead.
SG Pipers strikes for the final time
With a 2-1 lead for SG Pipers, the third quarter saw several attempts made, but the team remained intense and disciplined. They were organised in their defence and made sure Soorma were not left with much opportunity and ensured that the score line remained unchanged until the final quarter.
In the last quarter, SG Pipers did their best to add another one and kept Soorma to the losing end by denying any sort of momentum created during the match. However, in the final 10 minutes, Soorma cost themselves badly after withdrawing their goalkeeper in order to tie the score. But benefiting from that, Pipers’ Sunelita Toppo made a brilliant run and added the third goal. The SG Pipers ended the match with a win over Soorma by 3-1.
The SG Pipers are currently on their unbeaten record with all three victories secured so far in the league and remain in the top.
