On Friday, April 24, India’s Divyanshu Dewangan and Shambhavi Kshirsagar showcased brilliance in the 10m mixed air rifle event. The two finished off strong by winning the gold medal by performing a world record score at the ISSF Junior World Cup. The two shot an impressive score of 499.9 in the finals to finish ahead of Chinese Taipei (498.3).

Earlier in the day, Dewangan and Kshirsagar topped the qualification with their 632.0 shot. On the other hand, the second Indian team of Naraen Pranav Vanitha Suresh and Aneesha Sharma did not advance into the finals. The two had finished seventh with a scoring of 623.3 in the qualification round.
Meanwhile, Sameer finished at No. 7 in men’s 25m rapid fire pistol. He was the only Indian remaining in contention at the event. He finished second in the qualification round with a score of 573.
Players like Sagnik Banerjee, Abhinav Choudhary, Sahil Choudhary, Bhanu Pratap Singh Shekhawat and Pranshu Suryawanshi, all failed to qualify in top 8 of the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol qualification.
Friday’s gold medal win took India’s tally to 12 at the Junior ISSF World Cup in Cairo including four golds, five silvers and three bronze. The tally was the highest in the competition. A total of 284 shooters from across 25 different federations competed in Cairo. India had the largest number of contingent, 71.
At the 2025 ISSF Junior World Cup, Indian shooters won 37 medals, including 17 golds, which was the most claimed in the tournament.
