The event was held in New Delhi and was attended by Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, IOA president P.T. Usha, British High Commissioner to India Lindy Cameron, Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh, Sports Secretary Hari Ranjan Rao, Chef de Mission Rohit Rajpal, Deputy Chef de Mission Ravi Bengani, athletes, coaches and support staff.

The Glasgow Commonwealth Games will be held from July 23rd to August 2nd. India will send a 124-member contingent comprising both non-disabled and para athletes. The team will compete across 10 disciplines, including athletics, boxing, judo, weightlifting, gymnastics, cycling, lawn bowls, swimming, and para sports.

The official Team India kit was designed by Aaquib Wani and developed by JSW Sports. The kit is based on the theme “Invisible Trajectories”; the design reflects the movement and precision of athletes through graphic patterns which represent their sporting journey. Athletes showcased both the ceremonial and competition attire during a ramp walk.

Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, while speaking on the occasion, said, “Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, India is building a world-class sporting ecosystem that empowers our athletes to realise their full potential. Our athletes are the ambassadors of New India’s sporting excellence, determination and aspirations.

As Team India embarks on its journey to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, I urge every athlete to compete fearlessly, uphold the highest spirit of sportsmanship, and give their very best. The Government of India stands firmly behind each one of you and remains committed to providing every possible support to help you bring glory to the nation.”

“Every athlete wearing the India jersey has earned this opportunity through years of hard work, discipline and sacrifice. As they leave for Glasgow, they carry with them the hopes of a billion Indians,” she said.

JSW Sports founder Parth Jindal described the jersey as “our armour, designed with the athlete at the core,” while urging fans to wear it in support of Team India during the Games.

The IOA also acknowledged the support of its corporate partners, with Reliance Foundation Sports, Yes Bank, JSW Inspire, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Adani Sportsline and Amul backing India’s campaign in Glasgow.
