The 23rd edition of the Commonwealth Games commenced yesterday on 23rd July, 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland. The opening ceremony took place inside Glasgow’s OVO Hydro. The 2026 edition made history as the first-ever Commonwealth Games opening ceremony to take place indoors entirely.
Olympic weightlifter Mirabai Chanu and boxer Lovlina Borgohain served as the flag and baton bearers leading the Indian contingent.
24th July marks Day 2 of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, and official sports competitions will get underway.
