Tanvi Khanna Storms into Quarterfinals, Set for Tough Clash with Top Seed Ainaa Amani

On Wednesday, April 1, the Squash World Championship 2026 Asia Qualifiers event in Hong Kong resulted well for India. Women’s singles player Tanvi Khanna who defeated Macao’s Gigi Yeung in straight games by 11-9, 11-6, 11-4. The victory from the match got the fifth-seed Indian a quarterfinals spot in the event.

Khanna has her next campaign set against the top seed Ainaa Amani of Malaysia in the quarterfinals scheduled on Thursday, April 2. The winner of the tournament will only qualify for the 2026 PSA World Championships which is set to be held next month. Khanna has her work cut out when competing against Amani.

Meanwhile, Joshna Chinappa had to exit her campaign from the qualifiers event in the first round. She lost by sets of 12-10, 9-11, 4-11, 3-11 to Hong Kong’s Po Yui Kirstie Wong. The loss has made her hopes of the World Championship.

No Indian contender is representing in the men’s singles event. Abhay Singh, Veer Chotrani, Ramit Tandon, and Velavan Senthilkumar all of them have already qualified for the World Championships.

The 2025-2026 PSA World Championship Asia Qualifiers event is taking place from April 1 to 4, 2026, in Hong Kong at the Hong Kong Football Club. All matches are streamed on YouTube.
