India’s biggest table tennis spectacle is set to return with renewed excitement as Butterfly Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) Season 7 prepares to serve off in Goa next month. For the first time in the league’s history, the coastal state will host the entire tournament, bringing together some of the country’s finest paddlers and international stars for 17 days of elite competition.

The seventh edition of the franchise-based league will begin on July 9 at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, with defending champions U Mumba TT taking on two-time title winners Dempo Goa Challengers in a blockbuster opening clash. Scheduled to start at 7:30 PM, the contest promises to set the tone for what is expected to be one of the most competitive seasons in the league’s history.
Since its launch in 2017, Ultimate Table Tennis has established itself as one of India’s most successful professional sporting leagues. Organised under the aegis of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) and promoted by sports entrepreneurs Niraj Bajaj and Vita Dani, the competition has played a major role in raising the profile of table tennis across the country while providing Indian players with valuable exposure alongside world-class international talent.
This season will feature seven franchises competing in a single round-robin format, with each team facing every other side once during the league stage. The top four teams will advance to the semi-finals scheduled for July 24 and 25, before the championship decider takes place on July 26.
The participating teams include Ahmedabad APL Pipers, Dabang Delhi TTC, Dempo Goa Challengers, Kolkata ThunderBlades, PBG Pune Jaguars, U Mumba TT and newcomers UP Prometheans. The addition of UP Prometheans marks a significant expansion for the league, bringing representation from Uttar Pradesh and strengthening the sport’s footprint in northern India.
Action begins immediately after the opening day. July 10 will feature a double-header, with UP Prometheans making their debut against former champions Dabang Delhi TTC in a northern derby before Kolkata ThunderBlades square off against PBG Pune Jaguars later in the evening. Ahmedabad APL Pipers will launch their campaign on July 11 when they face defending champions U Mumba TT.
Several high-profile fixtures have already generated anticipation among fans. The Maharashtra derby between U Mumba TT and PBG Pune Jaguars on July 16 is expected to be one of the highlights of the league phase. A day later, Dempo Goa Challengers and Dabang Delhi TTC will reignite their rivalry in a rematch of the 2024 final. The encounter is likely to carry extra significance as both teams look to establish themselves among the title contenders.
Another fascinating clash arrives on July 18 when Ahmedabad APL Pipers take on PBG Pune Jaguars. The fixture could potentially showcase a battle between two of India’s most recognisable women’s table tennis stars, Manika Batra and Diya Chitale. Later the same day, fans could witness national doubles partners Manav Thakkar and Manush Shah competing on opposite sides when UP Prometheans faces U Mumba TT.
Season 7 also boasts one of the strongest player pools assembled by the league. Indian stars Manav Thakkar, Manush Shah and Diya Chitale headline the roster, while several top-ranked international paddlers are expected to add further quality to the competition. Thakkar and Shah, currently among the world’s leading men’s doubles combinations, return to the league after missing the previous season due to international commitments.
Beyond the competition itself, UTT continues to play an important role in India’s table tennis ecosystem. The league has become a pathway for emerging players to compete against established stars while helping increase fan engagement through television and digital platforms. The organisers have consistently focused on creating a professional sporting product that combines elite competition with entertainment, contributing to the sport’s growing popularity nationwide.
Fans will be able to follow all the action live on the Star Sports Network, while digital streaming will be available on JioHotstar. With six double-header matchdays, several marquee rivalries, and a host of India’s biggest table tennis names in action, Butterfly Ultimate Table Tennis Season 7 is poised to deliver another memorable chapter in the league’s journey and further strengthen the sport’s presence across the country.
