A Season of Steady Progress

She started the season ranked No. 36, but Anisimova’s consistent performances throughout the year, especially at the US Open in New York, pushed her to the final. Though the American lost the title clash to Aryna Sabalenka, the ranking boost will serve as a major confidence lift.

“Yeah, it was actually a goal of mine at the start of the year,” she admitted on Saturday, after the final.

Career-Best Milestone

Amanda’s previous career-best ranking was No. 7. She had lost the Wimbledon 2025 final after a strong run, but came back stronger at the US Open. However, the court wasn’t kind to her in the final.

Overcoming Setbacks

This journey was far from smooth. Just months ago, the 24-year-old was ranked 176 in the world. Battling mental health struggles, she made a notable comeback to professional tennis, showcasing resilience and determination.

Sabalenka Dominates at the Top

On the other side, Aryna Sabalenka once again showed her dominance. She defeated Amanda Anisimova 6-3, 7-6(3) in the US Open final, strengthening her No. 1 spot with 11,225 live points. Sabalenka’s consistency—runner-up at the French Open, semifinalist at Wimbledon, and champion at the US Open—has cemented her position at the top of the rankings.

The Wimbledon 2025 champion, Iga Świątek, holds the No. 2 position, while Roland Garros 2025 winner, 21-year-old Coco Gauff, is now ranked No. 3.

A Comeback Story

Amanda has proven her ability to bounce back. This tournament marked her comeback story, but breaking into the top 5 is not the end—it’s the beginning of what could be her most successful chapter yet.

There have been many ups and downs in the WTA rankings after the US Open 2025, but Amanda’s climb of five places has drawn attention worldwide. From slipping down the rankings to fighting her way back into the top 5, Amanda Anisimova has shown her resilience and strength on the tennis stage.
