Andreeva opened her campaign at the tournament in dominant fashion after defeating Solana Sierra in straight sets by 6-0, 6-0. However, her match against Siniakova was a tough one to beat. The match resulted in each player earning seven service breaks while sharing 43 break chances.

“Of course I’m happy it went on the other side. I was, like, should I cheer? It’s a really tricky finish. But definitely I will not say I’m not happy,” said Siniakova, who raised concerns over winds troubling the game.

Meanwhile, for World No. 2 Iga Swiatek it was an easy contested battle in which she defeated Greece’s Maria Sakkari by sets of 6-3, 6-2. The Polish star had earlier beaten Sakkari in the 2022 and 2024 editions finals of the Indian Wells to claim the title. Sakkari ended in success during their quarterfinals clash of the Qatar Open held in February 2026.

Swiatek said, “I knew what to focus on today and I did that from the beginning till the end. So I’m really happy with my focus and the way I was prepared.”

Swiatek will next face Doha champion Karolina Muchova, who defeated Antonia Ruzic by 6-0, 6-3.
