Mirra Andreeva Faces Iga Swiatek in Stuttgart 2026 Quarterfinal on Clay for the First Time

Mirra Andreeva is into the quarterfinals of the 2026 Stuttgart Open. The sixth-seed defeated Alycia Parks by sets of 7-6[3], 6-3 ‌on Thursday, April 16, to face her next clash ⁠with Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek. Russia’s World No. 9 Andreeva won her spot against defending ‌champion ⁠Jelena Ostapenko. The Linz Open has won all six of her clay court matches this season.

18-year-old Andreeva fought back to win the first set in the tiebreaker after Parks ended up in the 6-5 lead. Parks ended up facing seven double faults in the match, while Andreeva got two. She also tried to break up in the second set but failed to continue the lead.

Meanwhile, third seed Swiatek of Poland started her clay ‌season after defeating Laura Siegemund in the last 16 game by sets of 6-2, 6-3 on Wednesday, April 15. The Polish star is aiming for a fifth French Open title this season.

Andreeva vs. Swiatek Stuttgart Open 2026 quarterfinals

Andreeva remains unbeaten on clay this year, and is onto making her fifth quarter finals appearance of 2026. She will be facing No. 3 seed Iga Swiatek in their fourth career clash, and first on clay. Swiatek is a two-time winner in Stuttgart.

All of their previous three meetings were done on done courts. The Russian had faced a narrow 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 loss in the 2024 Cincinnati quarterfinals. But she went on to defeat Swiatek in back-to-back events in the 2025 Dubai quarterfinals and Indian Wells semifinals.

Andreeva who will head against Swiatek after 13 months is coming with the same approach for the quarterfinals. But the difference here comes with the two meeting for the first time on the clay court.

“I will just try to talk with Conchita. Obviously she’s a great player, but I’ll just approach this match as every other match that I had before. Obviously she’s had a good history on clay, so I’m just very curious to see how it’s gonna go. Obviously this is clay indoors, so it’s still a little bit different, but yeah, I’m kind of excited to see how this match will go on clay court for the first time,” Andreeva said.
