In the women’s singles finals event of the Guwahati Masters 2025, India’s Tanvi Sharma missed out on her chances for the title after finishing as runner-up. She lost two games by a close call against Chinese Taipei’s Tung Ciou-Tong. The Junior World Championships silver medalist lost her finals game by sets of 21-18, 21-18 in a 47-minute game.

This was Tanvi’s third finals appearance on the tour this season. With that, she also ended up making her third runner-up finish in 2025, including the US Open Super 300 and the World Junior Championships in October. She also finished as runner-up in the 2024 Odisha Masters Super100.
Tanvi entered the tournament in great form after winning the Denmark Open International Challenge title in May 2025. In the opening match, Tanvi started strong with a 3-0 lead and ended with a score of 12-8 after an 8-8 deadlock. She further continued her run and maintained the lead at 16-14 over Ciou-Tong, but the Chinese Taipei player took over the lead by scoring five straight points.
Next, in the second game, Tanvi again took the lead by 13-8, but Ciou-Tong once again struck and went on to level the score and ended up sealing the victory for her name.
Meanwhile, Sanskar Saraswat gave India the men’s singles title at the badminton tournament. The 19-year-old underwent a hard-fought victory against world No. 76 Mithun Manjunath by sets of 21-11, 17-21, 21-13. The final match was an intense battle that lasted for 50 minutes.
Ranked 384th in men’s singles badminton, the victory got Sanskar his first-ever Super 100 title.
On the other hand, India’s men’s doubles pair of Pruthvi Roy and Sai Pratheek finished as runner-up after losing their finals match to the Malaysian pair of Tai / Kang by sets of 13-21, 18-21.
