Haryana has won the women’s team title at the 78th Inter-State Inter-Zonal Badminton Championships held in Vijayawada all credit to Indian shuttlers Unnati Hooda, Devika Sihag and Anmol Kharb. The team defeated P.V. Sindhu, led by Andhra Pradesh, in a dominant fashion in the final match. Meanwhile, Sindhu, who lost the team final, made her return to the national tournament after seven years.

In the quarter-finals, Sindhu led Andhra Pradesh to a 3-0 victory over Uttarakhand, winning both her singles and doubles matches. However, in the final, Sindhu was kept out of the Andhra Pradesh team squad. Instead, they chose Navya Kanderi and Surya Tamiri, which ended up resulting in disappointment.
Navya lost her match to Devika in a three-game match, while Surya lost to Unnati in straight games. In the women’s doubles, they lost to the pair of Unnati and Anmol to win the title for Haryana.
Meanwhile, Haryana lost the chance to win the men’s team title after a hard-fought loss by 2-3 against Tamil Nadu. Manraj Singh and Bharat Raghav led Haryana to a strong start, winning their singles matches against Sankar Muthusamy and Rithvik S, respectively. However, Tamil Nadu shuttlers made an impressive comeback and gave the team the lead with three straight match victories.
The men’s doubles pair of Hariharan Amsakarunan and Ruban Kumar bagged the men’s doubles title, followed by Sugi Sai Bala Singh winning her singles game against Gautam Arora. Meanwhile, the highlight was the pair of Naveen P and Lokesh P, who edged past Mayank and Aaryan Sapiah to win their match.
