PSG Women Penalised with Three Forfeit Losses Over Player Licensing Issue

On Monday, December 22, 2025, the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) women’s team was struck with three defeats by forfeit from the French Football Federation (FFF) concerning a licensing issue involving player Florianne Jourde, who was signed to the team in the Summer of 2025. The action came into account following a complaint made from the FC Fleury 91 team, who had previously lost against PSG in the French Premier League on November 9 by a score of 4-0.

FFF has also extended its sanction to the club to cover two of its previous victory matches, including a 2-0 win against Le Havre and a 1-0 success over Strasbourg. With this, PSG have now lost nine points in the table rankings and have moved from no. 2 to the fifth position.

The penalty resulted from PSG’s latest addition, Jourde, who joined the team in July. As per sources, he had arrived from Alliance Soccer Laval, a soccer club in Canada, without an International Transfer Certificate (ITC). The ITC is a licence issued by FIFA, and it is mandated for professional players to get one when changing clubs. In this case, Jourde did not have the license, which resulted in the club’s sanction.

However, following the decision by FFF, PSG, in a statement, cited the decision as unreasonable and revealed their plans to make an appeal. They believe the action taken was justified based on the information they had. They also pointed out to the fact that FFF had itself approved of Jourde’s transfer to the PSG women’s team with a licence.

According to that, the 21-year-old Canadian player was eligible to play the three matches, and there was no difficulty caused by the administration at that time. But the three defeats-by-forfeit imposed by the FFF have left the PSG under injustice and discrimination.

Florianne Jourde signs with Paris Saint-Germain

Florianne Jourde signed with the Paris-Saint Germain from the 2025 to 2028 season in July 2025. The Canadian midfielder has previously played with AS Monteuil de Laval, followed by which she then joined the USC Trojans in the United States. Jourde has also featured in U-20 World Cups representing Canada two-times.

Following her joining PSG, Jourde said, “Joining Paris Saint-Germain is a dream come true. It’s an incredible opportunity to progress alongside talented players and to contribute to the Club’s ambitions. I can’t wait to start this new adventure and give my all for the Parisian fans.”
